Artist Residencies

Our Artist Residencies offer the perfect sanctuary to free yourself from the demands of daily life and unleash your artistic brilliance in a supportive and engaging community.  Here, visual artists, musicians and writers have ample space, time and freedom to focus on their work and engage in the larger community of San Miguel de Allende, where they can enjoy gallery tours, openings, music venues and a myriad of other cultural, social, and artistic opportunities.

What To Expect

Allende Arts offers artists a choice of live/work studios at our main Arts Space or at our nearby Satellite Residency.

At Allende Arts Space, we offer two large live/work studios with ensuite bathrooms and one smaller live/work space with a shared bathroom. Each includes an easel, work table and materials storage. Residents share a fully equipped kitchen and have access to our rooftop terrace and communal creative spaces.

Our Satellite Residency, located just a seven-minute walk from Allende Arts Space, offers two additional artist rooms within a private home hosted by French artist, Evelyne Pouget and her two dogs, Lolita and Durga.

  • Residencies range from a minimum of 3 weeks up to 3 months, at the prices shown below. Residents are responsible for their own transportation, food and art materials.

  • Visiting artists become part of the Allende Arts community, working alongside local and international artists. We provide personalized introductions to galleries, artists, events and experiences around San Miguel, as well as practical guidance on art supplies, tools and where to find them.

  • Life drawing, painting workshops and other classes may be offered during your residency. Please check our Classes page for current dates and pricing. These activities are priced separately unless otherwise indicated. Residents do get a discount on activities.

  • Artists staying for 4 weeks or longer may have the opportunity to participate in an art show at Allende Arts Space, offering a chance to present work created during their residency and connect with San Miguel's wider arts community.

  • Mentorship is available upon request.

  • Residents have access to a washing machine, iron and exercise equipment at Allende Arts Space.

  • Satellite residents may be able to work in the atrium or outdoor studio at Allende Arts Space, depending on the type of work they are doing. They are also welcome to participate in our weekly social gatherings and other community activities at Allende Arts Space.
