Three-Day Portrait Painting Workshop with César Sánchez
Join acclaimed artist and instructor César Sánchez for an immersive three-day portrait painting workshop at Allende Arts Space.
For this workshop, participants will focus on one portrait over the full three days, allowing time to slow down, observe more carefully, and develop the painting through successive layers. Rather than rushing toward a finished portrait in a single session, César will guide students through the process of building a painting gradually—refining the structure, developing colour and form, and adding greater depth and information as the portrait evolves.
Working from the same subject throughout the workshop provides an opportunity to explore the subtleties that can easily be missed in a shorter painting session. Participants will learn how to assess their work from one stage to the next, make thoughtful adjustments, and use layering to create a richer and more resolved portrait.
Through demonstrations, individual guidance, and hands-on painting, César will share his approach to observation, colour, form, edges, and the development of a convincing sense of light and volume.

About: César Sánchez was born in the city of León, Guanajuato, in 2000. He studied at various academies, including the Academia d'Arte Firenze, the Academy of Realist Art Toronto, and the Barcelona Academy of Realist Art, where he was recognized for his dedication to his work and art. He received scholarships for his performance at the AD'A and ARA Toronto academies.
Throughout his career, he has sold works that are now held in private collections and galleries in various states of Mexico, the United States, Barcelona, and Iceland.
He has also received national and state awards in art competitions and honorable mentions.
His work has been exhibited in public spaces and galleries in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and León, Guanajuato.
